Quality Functional Deployment

Quality Functional Deployment (aka House of Quality), is a visual decision-making process for a team to:

1. Develop a common understanding of stakeholder desires
2. Develop consensus for product and/or systems design

QFD focuses a multi-skilled team to resolve trade-offs against design performance targets - in successive levels of detail - thereby eliminating the muda inherent in traditional development processes.

Quality Functional Deployment can be used:

1. By a Dedicated Product Team or Concurrent Development Team for new product development (including design for manufacturability)
2. By an ERP Project Team to ensure thoughtful consideration and prioritization of stakeholder desires when designing a new Enterprise Software system
