Swim Lane Cross Functional Flowchart

The Swim Lane Cross Functional Flowchart shows the relationship between a business process and the departments/people responsible for each step. It serves as a powerful way to improve the flow of a process, by providing clarity and accountability of different functional units. In addition, it displays connections and communications between each unit, and therefore facilitates standardization and consistency of the process through visualization, analysis and elimination of delays and waste.
