• Instructions should not be too detailed — 0:30

  Each Work Element starts & ends with a break point where work COULD be handed off from one worker to another

• The Rule — One row per Work Element — 2:00

  There are times that you will bend this rule by adding Sub-steps, but usually not.

• Word wrap — 2:30

  Usually, only 2 wrapped lines are visible

• Comments and Key Points — 4:30

  Copy the special bullet symbols for Key Points

• Optional: Job Breakdown sheets — 6:00

  Systems2win menu > Open a Blank Sheet will open a new Job Breakdown sheet to allow users to drill down to detailed Work Instructions (on worksheets in the same workbook)

• Optional: Links to Related Documents — 9:00

  How to use Link Icons and hyperlinks to drill down to other standard work templates for different levels of documentation details, and different types of standard work analysis

  Only Work Elements performed every Run Cycle get a Step number, and not even all of those.

  Rows that DON'T get a Step number include: Walk, Wait, Steps performed by an External Operator, and Sub-steps.

• Sub-steps

  Your sub-steps should be mostly for Walk and Wait.

  It's usually better to drill down to a related document for other types of sub-steps.
